life update
Whew, it’s been awhile since I’ve said anything. I haven’t really been busy - I guess I just haven’t had much to say.
Let’s see, it’s October now. Baby will arrive very soon. Probably will mean changes that I don’t even know. I already have plans to soothe the baby to sleep by reading entries from “The Python Cookbook”. I can probably really dramatize the controversy between lists and tuples - you know, make it exciting for the little guy/gal.
This weekend we are going to Sarah’s brother’s wedding. Pretty crazy taking a trip this close to d-day, you say? You’re right. Actually, we won’t know until tomorrow’s Dr. visit for sure, but that’s the plan so far.
I have done some side work doing PC repair lately. It is pretty fun since I am not doing too much of that anymore at work.
I installed Slackware 9.1 over the weekend. I am liking it a lot. There is this cool new utility called swaret that helps to keep your Slack system up to date. It is similar to Debian’s apt-get. Right now I am running Slack 9.1 on my old 300MHz Compaq laptop and I am using the xfce4 desktop. It is quite a nice desktop environment - fast and pretty. Quite a bit slimmer than KDE or GNOME.
We had Mario’s pizza tonight. They accidentally messed up our order so we got a free small pepperoni pizza in addition to our medium deep dish peppercini pizza (which was supposed to be a 1/2 roni 1/2 cini). Mario’s is the greatest pizza place in Greenville if not Illinois if not the USA.
We watched the movie Holes this past weekend at a friend’s house. It was a very good movie for a Disney flick. It’s not an “oh my gosh I am going to live my life differently after seeing that movie” (of which I question their existance) kind of movie - more of a “better than ‘Goonies’ - ‘Goonies’ sort of movie”. I guess a lot of movies are better than “Goonies” though. Not too many are better and similar.
Enough.
