fireplaces and bunkbeds
Whew - we just finished stripping the paint off of our fireplace on Sunday. Can you tell I am still feeling the effects? As I was slaving away, I could only imagine that the Romans must have invented the idea of stripping paint from brick. After all that hard work, though - does it really look better? Check out the pictures and let me know what you think.
In other news, the college got new dorm furniture this year and we bought one of the old bunk beds for a steal of a deal. Sarah and I started setting the monster up tonight. It has survived 14 years of dorm life and is in great shape. Since bunk beds are cool (at least I always thought so as a kid), hopefully Curtis will get an early taste of just how cool his parents are. I mean, we got it for him, right? We get some of the cool, right? Thankfully at his current age, we get to be his end-all be-all. Pretty nice. Also nice to have that bunkbed as insurance down the road.

bunkbeds do COMPLETELY rock.
My kids love bunkbeds more than chocolate chip cookies. when i went to a conference in toledo recently and roomed with Dr. Joe (as the kids call him) — they were much more intrigued by the fact that we slept in bunkbeds in our dorm room than by my glowing stories of African animals at the zoo.
So yes. This is a big parenting moment for you.
