Secure README

I needed to download a readme from Cisco’s site today. Here was the process:

  1. Go to cisco.com
  2. Login to get to support
  3. Find the file I want.
  4. Login again - this time to the download section
  5. State whether or not I intend to export the README to terrorists
  6. Agree that Cisco can charge me for the README if I am not authorized to view it and agree to their EULA
  7. Login again to download the actual README

For those of you keeping score at home, that’s 3 logins (the same account everytime) and 2 “click agree to continue” pages ALL TO DOWNLOAD A FLIPPIN’ README FILE!

All this only to find out that I can’t upgrade to a non-buggy version of IOS on our Aironet access points because our Cisco Wireless LAN Solution Engine (WLSE) doesn’t support the non-buggy firmware.

Arghh!
